    A 15" cotton backpack that also carries as a shoulder bag or a slim laptop bag. The front is a clear window for whatever you want on show, with two swappable inserts included, and the backpack straps tuck away completely when you don't need them.

    Made with our friends and sister studio Pinbuds. It's the tenth version of their everyday bag.

    Three ways to carry it. As a backpack, the EVA foam straps reach 18 to 35 cm from the bag to the front of your chest and are triple-stitched where they take the load. Tuck them into the back pocket, which is sewn shut at the bottom so nothing slips out, and clip on the padded shoulder strap (99 to 141 cm). Take that off too and it's a clean laptop bag with a top handle.

    A window that's also a pocket. The 21 x 23 cm window is 0.8mm TPU, the material tough phone cases use, so it resists scuffs, haze and yellowing. Pin a layout to an insert, hang charms from the D-rings inside, or pull the insert out and use it as a see-through pocket. It zips shut against the bag.

    Made to be used. 12oz heavyweight cotton outside, a structured polyester lining inside, waterproof zips and metal D-rings and clasps. The strap buckles are strong plastic. The cotton isn't water-repellent, so keep it out of heavy rain.

    What fits inside?

    A 15" laptop in the padded sleeve, a tablet or A4 documents in the document sleeve, phone and cards in the two front pockets and a bottle in each side holder.

    Is it waterproof?

    No. The zips are water-resistant, but the cotton body isn't water-repellent. It's fine in a light shower; keep it out of heavy rain.

    Can I use it without the inserts?

    Yes. Pull the insert out and the window becomes a see-through front pocket.

    Will the window go cloudy?

    The window is 0.8mm TPU, the material used for tough phone cases. It resists hazing, scuffing and yellowing far better than PVC. Deliberate scraping on concrete or brick can still mark it.

    Who makes it?

    This bag is a collaboration between Troav and our sister studio Pinbuds in Sydney. It is made by a factory partner we have worked with directly for years.

    Is it easy to clean?

    Yes. The dark cotton hides everyday marks, and because it's cotton you can spot clean it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Let it air dry.

    • How to pin with it

      Pin-stallation foam

      A thick, soft foam board that comes with your bag. It takes the points of your pins, so pinning a whole insert never hurts your fingers.

        Start with the foam

        Lay the foam flat on a table.

      2. Pins pushed through the insert into the foam, pin backs ready

        Pin straight through

        Lay your insert on the foam, front up, and push each pin straight through. The points sink into the foam, not your fingers.

      3. Flip it, fit the backs

        Turn the insert over on the foam. It holds every pin level while you press all the backs on at once.

      4. Back in the window

        Slide the pinned insert back into the window. Swap it any time.

      Tip: the foam can also sit behind the insert to bring your pins closer to the window.
